Team Challenge · $10,000 to the Winners

The centerpiece of Midwest Regionals is the Team Challenge. League teams fight through group play before the pressure shifts into a single-elimination bracket. Every match runs on a 30-second shot clock with a match clock in play, so decisions and execution both matter.

  • Entry: $800 per team
  • First place: $10,000
  • Format: Round robin group stage into single-elimination bracket
  • Guaranteed play: At least four matches per team if the event is full
  • Roster size: 5–8 players
  • Roster requirement: At least four players must come from the same in-session league roster
  • Line-up requirement: Each match must include at least one player rated 450 or below; max two players rated 600+
  • Rules: International 8-Ball · 7-foot tables · no jump cues
  • Pace: 30-second shot clock · timed matches

Singles at Midwest Regionals is structured around level-matched play. Players are placed into A, B, or C divisions by UPScore so that brackets feel competitive and each run-out matters.

  • Entry: $100 per player
  • Field size: Capped in each division
  • Format: Round robin group play into single-elimination bracket
  • Rules: International 8-Ball · 7-foot tables · no jump cues
  • Pace: 30-second shot clock · timed matches

Doubles Event

Scotch Doubles

The scotch doubles event brings pairs to the table in alternating-shot format. Partners share the cue under the clock, so rhythm, trust, and decision-making all sit in the spotlight.

  • Format: Scotch Doubles (alternating shots)
  • Entry: $60 per team
  • Divisions: By combined UPScore
  • Structure: Double-elimination bracket
  • Eligibility: Open to players not playing singles or already eliminated
  • Rules: International 8-Ball · shot clock and match clock enforced

Division windows and prize funds for scotch doubles will be announced once entry numbers are available and the event packet is finalized.

Registration

Eligibility and Entry

Midwest Regionals is reserved for active Ultimate Pool League players. All entries are managed through League Operators to keep rosters clean, divisions accurate, and communication clear.

  • Players must be active in an Ultimate Pool League area with an established UPScore.
  • Teams must field at least four players from the same in-session league roster.
  • Singles and doubles entries must come from players in good standing with their local league.
  • Registration and payments will be coordinated through League Operators, not individual walk-ins.

Registration will open through League Operators. Official registration packets, payment instructions, and entry deadlines will be sent directly to League Operators and posted on this page once finalized. Players interested in attending should contact their League Operator.

Rules, Pace, and Format

Every Midwest Regionals match follows the Ultimate Pool League International 8-Ball Ruleset. The same rulebook that runs league nights carries over to this event, with additional emphasis on pace and structure.

  • International 8-Ball Rules for all events

  • Timed matches with a match clock enforced
